Charlie Sherman

Charlie ShermanI was born in what is now the McClain County Historical Museum, which was the Purcell Hospital back in 1951. I attended Purcell schools grades 1 thru 12 and graduated from Purcell High School in 1970. I moved all the way to Norman in 1971 to attend the University of Oklahoma, where I graduated in 1974 with a BA in Business. I then moved back to Purcell and have been here ever since. In 2000, I completed the Graduate School of Banking at SMU. When I was younger, I loved playing basketball. Now I attend the OU football and basketball games. I also love to travel.

I guess you could say that McClain Bank kind of selected me. At least one member of the Sherman Family has worked at the Bank since the 1930s, when my father came to work here. The Sherman Family gained majority ownership in the early 80s. I began working in bookkeeping when I was in high school and became a teller during college. After college graduation, I started working full-time, becoming Cashier in 1975, Vice President in 1984, Executive Vice President in 1995 and President in 2002.

The best part of banking for me is the relationships built in the community. I enjoy working with civic clubs and organizations that want to improve our community. You really get to know people when you work with them on community projects. I also like that every day is different in banking. You never know what to expect.
My direct number is 405.527.1469 and my email address is CSherman@mcclainbank.com.

Steve Sherman

Steve ShermanI was born in Purcell in 1960, in what is now the McClain County Historical Museum. Back then (and when my father, Jim; uncle, Don; and cousin, Charlie Sherman; were all born there) it was the Purcell Hospital. My time in Purcell the first time around was short lived. My dad worked for the railroad and was transferred to Arkansas City, KS in 1963. So dad, mom and we three boys became Kansans. I attended school there and graduated from Ark City High School in 1978. I went on to attend Kansas State University and graduated with a Finance degree in 1982.

After college I decided to move back to Purcell and join the family business. I started at McClain County National Bank in January 1983. In those days, banks still printed customer checks in-house and that was one of my first jobs. I also shredded paper and worked as a teller. Not long after I began working on the general ledger or “balancing the bank” as we liked to call it. In 1990, I moved from Operations to Lending and have been there ever since. I was privileged in 2010 to be promoted to Executive Vice President/Head of Lending.

Outside of the Bank, I like to be with my family and friends, play golf, drop a fishing line every now and then, and go motorcycle riding. I love taking road trips on my bike. A few years ago, I rode the Tail of the Dragon in Tennessee. What an experience that was. I actually have two Harleys, a custom maroon Road King and a yellow half lab/half shepherd, named Harley.

It is a great honor to work with great people at McClain Bank, both customers and my Bank family. I find immense pleasure in helping people make progress as they achieve milestones in life. Whether that’s a grandparent signing with their grandchild for a first car, a family buying their first home, or someone who’s decided to become a business owner. Just getting to know people and helping them achieve their dreams makes me happy.

If you have any questions concerning your loan here at McClain Bank, or you feel I can help you in any way, my direct number is 405.527.1489 and my email is SSherman@mcclainbank.com.

I moved to Norman in 1978, after graduating from Waurika High School, to attend the University of Oklahoma. I graduated from OU in 1981 with a degree in Finance.

Kelly Nemecek

Kelly NemecekMy father, Perry, began working at McClain County National Bank (MCNB) in 1966. Having a first-hand view of what could be accomplished in banking within the local area was a big motivating factor for me to work here also. My first real job was at MCNB. I worked here for about a year before leaving to work at Southern Methodist University for 4½ years. Then my wife, Shandy (McPherson), and I decided to come home. I’m now in my second McClain Bank stint and I’ve been back for over 18 years now.

I’ve lived in this area most of my life and graduated from PHS in 1984. I graduated from OSU in 1989 with a Business degree and also completed my MBA from OCU in 2001. When away from the Bank, I enjoy watching my twins grow up and spending time with family and friends, as well as watching sports and listening to music.

For me, the best part of banking is establishing relationships with our customers and trying to help them realize their dreams, whether that’s owing their own business, buying some land or buying a new vehicle. You can contact me by phone at 405.527.1579 or email KNemecek@mcclainbank.com.

Jackie Listen

Jackie ListenI grew up on a small hog and dairy farm in Jones, Oklahoma. My dad gave my two brothers and me six pigs a year for our work on the farm. I had my first checking account when I was nine years old and knew if I could make it to the local livestock show, the President of First State Bank of Jones would be handing out money. I credit my success to my dad who taught me economics and the value of hard work and to my father-in-law who took me under his wing and taught me the real estate business. I was a full time entrepreneur for eleven years and had the opportunity to experience the downfall of the Oklahoma economy in the 1980s, which led to my position with McClain County National Bank.

I joined the Bank in June of 1992. Having a real estate background, I was hired to market their Other Real Estate Owned. In about four years I had marketed and sold most of the real estate and the Bank asked me to stay on, so I decided to pursue my career as the Bank’s agriculture lender. I never realized how valuable my experience from the farm would be until I stepped into a leadership role. Today I draw from those experiences and I love to teach and encourage those who work with me. I also enjoy helping our customers reach their goals and dreams. I was excited to be selected as the Branch Manager of our Noble Branch when it opened in April 2007.

I’ve always admired how involved McClain Bank is in the community, both as a business and through the volunteer efforts of their employees. I personally try to reflect that same spirit. I’m currently active in the Noble Chamber and the Cross Timbers RC&D Board. I also served for seven years on the Cleveland County Soil Conservation board.

Another passion is Jr. Achievement, in which I’ve been active since 1996. One especially fond memory was the opportunity to visit Argentina with the Oklahoma Agriculture Leadership program in 1998. I enjoy giving back to the community and auctioneer for the Chamber, various 4-H & FFA groups and others to help in fundraising events. I live on a ranch in Noble with my wife, Paula, and we have two children, Chelsea and Jed.

It is an honor to be a part of the McClain Bank family. If you’re looking for a lender who understands ag, the trials of being a business owner and the challenges of raising a family, I invite you to call me direct at 405.527.1578 or email JListen@mcclainbank.com. I want to be your Banker!

Margie Keely

Margie KeelyI have lived in this area most of my life.  McClain Bank is an employer who promotes within and helps their employees achieve their dreams and goals.  I began working at McClain Bank in Purcell almost 19 years ago.  I started in the Bookkeeping Department, actually counting the checks and “stuffing” the envelopes with bank statements and checks.   Technology has been great!

After a year in Bookkeeping, I transferred to the Loan Department, as a Loan Assistant. The Noble Branch was opened in March of 2007 and I transferred and advanced to the position of VP/ Loan Officer. Although we are a small branch, we are a full-service branch with lots to offer.

I enjoy my job and the great customers that I find very interesting, with wonderful stories to share.   While I enjoy the working relationships that have been developed with my current customers, I am always happy to meet those that have just moved to the community, and McClain Bank has been recommended by friends/family or maybe they are just checking us out.

When someone comes into my office, they obviously have a need and I want to help them purchase that new car, buy a larger home or consolidate their loans to help their current cash flow.

I would be remiss if I didn’t share the passion I have for the Lord. He has blessed me in so many ways, including family and friends. Don’t even ask about my grandchildren, unless you want to hear the endless stories. I am a very proud Grandma. I think our grandchildren remind us to laugh and enjoy the simple things we forgot about.

If you are looking for a family owned bank, where we greet you by your name and offer you a cup of coffee, then McClain Bank is your bank!   You are welcome to stop-in or set-up an appointment.  Please call me at 405.872.2222 or email MKeely@mcclainbank.com.

Kerry Wilhoit

Kerry WilhoitI was born and raised in Purcell where I graduated high school. After completing my Bachelors’ Degree in Business Management from the University of Central Oklahoma, my wife and I returned to Purcell to raise our family after living in Moore for four years. My wife, Sharie, teaches for Moore Public schools and we have a daughter and a son. When I’m not at work I enjoy golfing and spending time with my family.

I chose to join the McClain Bank family because of the impact it has on the community and the service it provides our customers. Growing up in Purcell, I witnessed firsthand the bank’s generosity and efforts to support the local schools, civic clubs and community projects yearly. For me the greatest part of my job is helping others achieve their dreams. Another great aspect of working for a family owned and operated bank is getting to know our customers, as if we are all family. I feel very fortunate to have served on several organizations’ boards such as Mary Abbot Children’s House, Heart of Oklahoma Chamber of Commerce, Rotary and Purcell Public Schools Foundation. I have also completed Oklahoma Banker’s Association Leadership Academy and am a graduate of Leadership Norman.

I look forward to serving the needs of our community. Please feel free to contact me at 405.527.6503 or KWilhoit@mcclainbank.com.

Loan Assistants

Tamara Alvarado

Tamara AlvaradoI have lived in the surrounding area most of my life. I graduated from Wayne High School and then attended OCCC for 2 years. My husband and I were married in 1997. We have resided in the same nearby community ever since and are raising our 3 children there.

My husband has worked for National Oilwell & Varco for the past 14 years.  I previously worked in the oilfield industry as well, handling payroll and accounting. I had decided it was time to change my career path so that we were not both working in the same industry. I knew McClain Bank was where I wanted to be. When I heard of an open position in the Noble Branch, I applied. I started in April 2015, working as a teller and in customer service. In October 2015, I was transferred to the Main Bank in Purcell to work as a Loan Assistant.

I love spending time with my family. Our children all have their separate activities that keep us on our toes, but I wouldn’t want it any other way. One of our favorite things to do is spend time together at Lake Texoma. We love camping, boating and fishing and just being together.

It has been a blessing to join the McClain Bank family and get to know their customers. If I can be of any assistance please feel free to contact me at 405.527.6503 ext.122 or email TAlvarado@mcclainbank.com.

Cheryl Goldsmith

Cheryl GoldsmithMy husband, Charles, and I along with our three boys, Greg, John Mark and Joshua, moved to Pauls Valley in 1986. My husband was the store manager of Safeway in Idabel and was transferred to Pauls Valley at that time. Three years later I began teaching Art and continued doing so for eight years at Whitebead Elementary in Pauls Valley. In 1995, after 20 years of management with Safeway/Homeland my husband bought a convenience store in Lexington and renamed it “Chuck’s Quick Stop”.

It was through owning the convenience store and banking with McClain Bank that I met some really wonderful people. In February of 2003, while making a deposit, I was told they were hiring. I was interested, so I completed an application and the following Tuesday I began my career. I began as a Teller, worked in the proof department (item processing) and have been in the loan department for almost 11 years now. McClain Bank is a family owned bank and that is reflected in how they treat their customers and employees like family. It has been a privilege to be a part of the McClain Bank family.

I graduated from Southeastern Oklahoma State University in 1977 with a Bachelor of Arts in Education and completed Elementary Education requirements from East Central University in 1988. I received a Certificate Mastery in Banking and Finance from OCCC in 2005. My favorite past time is spending time with my family. I have two grandchildren, Abby, 11 years old, and Jax, 3 years old. Abby and I enjoy having art every Monday evening. My husband and I enjoy having time with Jax almost every weekend. According to Jax, I am Mimi and my husband is PePaw. He amazes us with some of the things he says and does. He visited me one day at the bank and asked me what I was doing; I told him I was working. He asked why? I told him I was working for food. Three months later he came in to visit again and the first thing he said to me was “Are you working for food, Mimi?” He doesn’t miss a thing.

If I can be of any assistance please call me at 405.527.6503 ext 123 or email CGoldsmith@mcclainbank.com.
